| The 11th Annual International Ukulele Contest 2022 | ||||||

The contest is open to amateur ‘ukulele players over the age of three. No professional musicians (including semi-professional) and/or performers signed to a management company are allowed to enter the contest. Aspiring musicians can enter by uploading an unedited video to YouTube with an entry form from the ‘Ukulele Picnic in Hawaii website at www.ukulelepicnicinhawaii.org/contest starting on March 5th at 5pm HST. Entries are currently being accepted through Saturday, May 7th by 5pm HST. Entries are being accepted in four categories including: Solo Keiki & Teens ages 3 to 18 years old; Solo Open ages 19 and older; Solo Vocal ages 3 and older, and group (two and more performers). The entry fee was $10 per person every year. However, they decided to waive all entry fees in support for humanitarian efforts and world peace in Eastern Europe. Judges feature a singer and Hawaiian culture inheritance, Ku’uipo Kumukahi, a ukulele player Kimo Hussey, and a Japanese ukulele player, Boo Takagi. Winners from each division will be selected and announced at the virtual ‘Ukulele Picnic via live-stream broadcast on Saturday May 28th, 2022 6pm-8pm (Hawaii Time) from Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani, through the Ukulele Contest livestream on https://www.youtube.com/user/ukupichawaii. The winners’ YouTube video will be displayed on the official contest website. More information on the contest can be found online at www.ukulelepicnicinhawaii.org/contest/. |
