Meet Tea Chest Hawaii and Maui Tea Farm at Tea Experience | ||||||
Tea Chest Hawaii and Halekulani will co-host a special event at the hotel’s Orchids restaurant on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 3pm to debut the resort’s newly revamped afternoon tea service. Elements of the event include: • Guests will be among the first to experience the sweet and savory treats on Orchid’s new afternoon tea menu • Meet Alex and Andrea de Roode, of Maui Tea Farm, take a virtual tour of their farm and hear the story behind growing their special Haleakala Tea • Partake in a unique comparative cupping experience of 11 new teas carried by the hotel led by Byron Goo of Tea Chest Hawaii • A first look at a new tea cocktail featuring, Kiawe, a smoky black tea Founded in September 1995, Honolulu-based Tea Chest Hawaii is the only full-service specialty tea purveyors in the state and is led by husband and wife duo, Byron and Satomi Goo. Byron and Satomi are teamakers who draw on their Hawaiian, Chinese, and Japanese heritage, each with their own culture of tea, to bring teas with a sense of place to the modern table. The business has expanded to work directly with both local and international growers to source organic, biodynamic and locally grown ingredients.
