4th Annual Hawaii State Law Enforcement Surfing Classic | ||||||
Get stoked! For the first time, the Hawaii State Law Enforcement Surfing Classic will welcome law enforcement personnel from around the world to compete in a variety of water sports at beautiful Waikiki Beach. During the first two days of the event, July 11-12, representatives from around the world will descend upon Queen’s Beach as the event plays host to the surfing competition of the United States Police & Fire Championships. Police and fire personnel will try to make a splash in longboard, shortboard, stand up paddle board and boogie board divisions. In days three and four, July 13-14, competitors will form four-person teams from various age groups and using different types of boards to compete against one another. Close to 100 competitors are expected from law enforcement agencies including police, fire, EMS, customs, the Federal Detention Center, military police, lifeguards, and many others as well as first responders’ immediate family members. All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Hawaii and support their work to provide year-round sports training and competition opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities. To date the event has raised more than $15,000. The event is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which since 1986, has allowed local, off-duty law enforcement volunteers to raise funds and awareness for athletes statewide. The fourth annual event is presented by 88 Tees and Anheuser Busch. |
