FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MOANALUA HIGH SCHOOL’S SEASON OF GIVING CHARITY CONCERT TO BENEFIT HAWAII SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA HONOLULU, November 25, 2016 ---The annual Season of Giving Charity Concert featuring the top two groups of Moanalua High School’s music department performing pop, classical, and Christmas songs. Joining Moanalua will be vocalists Cory Oliveros, Kanoe Gibson Nitta, Meleana Brown and Christina Brown Kiriakos. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra. The concert takes places on Thursday, December 8, at 7:00 pm at the Pearl City Cultural Center. Each seat is a $15.00 donation. The first group to perform will be the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, which consistently receives top scores in the OBDA Parade of Bands and is considered by some to be one of the best bands in the nation. The second group to perform is Moanalua's Symphony Orchestra. They have the distinction of being the first student orchestra to be invited to New York’s Carnegie Hall in 1998. By invitation, they returned in 2005 and 2013. Recognizing the impact that music has had on their lives and the influence it has on concert goers lives, the students will donate the proceeds from this year’s concert to the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra (HSO). Now in it’s fifth season, the HSO is a 501(c)(3) that primarily relies on donations for sustainability. Through their music, the students of the Moanalua High School Music Department hope to perpetuate the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra’s music. Tickets for the December 8th Season of Giving Charity Concert can be purchased by calling the Moanalua Music Department at 831-7905 or at the door, if available. The doors are scheduled to open at 6:00 pm for a silent auction with the concert starting at 7:00 pm. |
