Patrick Ball in The Fine Beauty of the Island | ||||||
In The Fine Beauty of the Island, a solo musical theater piece, Patrick Ball tells the story of his journey in search of the origin and meaning of a strange, enchanting tune which led him back not only to a Blasket Island community and culture “whose like will not be seen again,” but to a long-neglected corner of his own past. Patrick Ball is one of the premier Celtic harp players in the world and a captivating spoken word artist. He has recorded nine instrumental and three spoken word albums which have sold well over one-half million copies internationally and won national awards in both the music and spoken word categories. Presented by the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Outreach College in association with the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Music Department and the Performing Arts Presenters of Hawaii. Supported in part by the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. |
